Michele started running with ASA after she learned about them while training for her first Baltimore Half Marathon. She started running with ASA on the NCR trail training to be a Wingmen in the Baltimore Marathon. For her, running with an athlete and a group of dedicated Wingmen was so much more rewarding then running alone or for a PR. Michele enjoys running and participating in multi-sport events.
It is hard to pick a favorite race since each one is special and memorable in its own way. If Michele had to choose, the Bay Bridge Run is spectacular. It is logistically difficult, but watching everyone come together in the dark to get everything and everybody to the start is something incredible to watch. It exemplifies how the whole ASA community works together in order to finish together. There is the added bonus of watching the sunrise over the bridge too. When not running with ASA, Michele is an assistant preschool teacher and mother of 3.
Lisa started competing in triathlons in 2010 with her first Sprint Triathlon. While she loved the fitness outlet and energy she would find in competing, she became aware of how self-focused triathlons could be. Seeking an outlet with a greater purpose, Lisa found ASA to be a perfect fit, combining her love of kids, fitness, and being outdoors. She joined in 2011 and has loved every minute of it since.
When asked about her favorite race Lisa couldn't pick just one. "Any race that includes one of our athletes, the smiles on their faces bring me pure joy!" In addition to being ASA's WingMan coordinator, she is also Board Certified Physician Assistant.
