David Slomkowski
Founder and Executive Director From his childhood days in Laurel, Maryland, to his adulthood and professional vocation; sports, athletic competition and physical fitness have played a powerful role in shaping the direction of David’s life and work. As a college athlete, he was inducted into the Washington College Athletic Hall of Fame, and was a three time collegiate All-American. Professionally, David holds a degree in Business Management and has been an equity partner in a variety of entrepreneurial endeavors. In 2007 David had the vision to combine his love and appreciation for the athletic spirit along with his entrepreneurial drive, to create Athletes Serving Athletes. Dave is committed to helping ASA Athletes and their families feel loved and included, have more opportunities to participate in mainstream events, and meet people and see places otherwise not available to them. His hope is that by Athletes taking part in ASA, their quality of life is elevated in significant ways. Dave is married to ASA’s Director of Operations Sarah Slomkowski and between them have five children. |
Julia Kardian Director of Development Julia is the Director of Development for ASA. She graduated from Towson University with a degree in Communications and has spent the last fifteen years working and volunteering for non profit organizations that serve youth and families affected by disabilities. Her expertise is in event planning and fundraising. Her focus is to grow ASA's local partnerships throughout the state and help raise the necessary funds to ensure the WingMan Program remains completely free to the ASA Athletes and families we serve. In addition to fundraising, she also oversees ASA's three annual events - RunFest, Bull Roast, and the ASA Awards. When she is not at work, she is busy being a mom to 4 beautiful kids with her husband, Chad. Lisa Cooper
Director of Programming Lisa Cooper started with ASA as a volunteer in 2011 by helping to train ASA’s first group of Wingmen. Lisa is currently the Director of Programming which is a job that she truly loves. Lisa has a Master's degree in Medical Science and has been a Physician Assistant for over 20 years. When her children were young and Lisa was home with them, she decided that she needed something outside of the home to engage in and found ASA. For her, ASA provides the perfect combination of physical activity, being outdoors, helping others, and the joy of developing new connections. In her job as the Director of Programming, Lisa ensures that our ASA Athletes, Wingmen, Captains, our Community Coordinators and our communities are supported and thriving. She loves connecting with our ASA community and witnessing firsthand the passion and enthusiasm that all of our participants bring to our program. |
Julie Anderson
Program Manager Julie is the Program Manager and assists Lisa Cooper, Director of Programming to provide support to our WingMen and ASA Athletes. Julie has an older sister and a twin brother, Jon, who served as a WingMan a few years ago. She loves frisbee and ping pong. She grew up in Baltimore County and is excited to serve all of ASA's Communities. Hannah Harlan
Communications & Social Media Coordinator Hannah has over 5 years of experience in creating and strategically sharing digital content to target audiences. She was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and attended the University of Delaware where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Media Communications and Advertising. Her focus is to improve ASA's marketing and communications strategy through creative content and data-driven decision-making, with a goal to widen its overall reach and engagement. Hannah has a cat named Fish (yes, Fish), plays live music on the weekends, and loves to cook. Crossfit, yoga, and running are her favorite ways to stay active, and she's participated in races as an ASA WingMan in the past. Conor Joyce
Fleet and Equipment Manager Conor makes sure that all of the joggers, vehicles, and equipment trailers are in good working condition and at every race so that our Athletes can cross the finish line. Conor works alongside the ASA Event Team as the Operations Manager. He is also married to ASA Captain Kathleen Smith. He and Kathleen live in Baltimore City and enjoy running, triathlon events, and traveling. |
