ASA WingMan (n.) Any individual (man or woman, fast or slow) who lends his/her heart and legs to empower an ASA Athlete to cross the finish line and at the same time raises awareness and funds for the organization.
THE WINGMAN PROGRAM
The WingMan Program empowers individuals living with limited to no mobility (ASA Athlete) the opportunity to train and race in mainstream running events. Each ASA Athlete is supported by his or her own unique WingMan Team, who work together to cross the finish line. “Together We Finish.”
ASA provides the ASA Athlete and his or her WingMan Team with all of the equipment and resources necessary to cross the finish line including: help picking a race, hosting regularly scheduled Group Run opportunities, and managing all race day logistics.

Our Reach
|
An ASA WingMan may be new to running, an experienced athlete, young, old, male or female, fast or slow. A WingMan does not need to have experience with individuals living with disabilities, nor do they need to have experience racing, just the desire to train and run with our Athletes. We do ask that you be able to run (not walk) the distance of your desired race.
WingMan Requirements
|
The ASA WingMan Program started in Baltimore County which has since become Baltimore County North - NCR Trail and Baltimore County Central - Towson. We are thrilled to have additional ASA WingMan Communities thriving in Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City, Dauphin County PA, Frederick County, Harford County, and Howard County. An ASA WingMan Community consists of a Volunteer Community Coordinator, WingMen, and ASA Athletes who regularly train and race together.
ASA provides the Athlete and his or her WingMan team with all of the equipment and resources necessary to cross the finish line together. |

“I never realized how life-giving acting as another person’s legs could be. To experience a short period of life laughing, running, and pushing the limits with Spencer helped me see again that one of life’s greatest treasures is the treasure of helping people go places they have never gone or may never get to go. In doing so I was taken to new places of joy and hope myself…I can’t wait to do this again. I may have been Spencer’s legs for a race, but he is my inspiration for taking risks that make life so meaningful”.
